Who We Are
The Station Learning Farm is a community-based organization where food, learning and opportunity come together.
Based in rural Nova Scotia, we create hands-on programs that help people build practical skills, gain confidence, connect with their community and discover new pathways forward. Through agriculture, food, education and meaningful work experiences, we are creating a place where people of all ages and abilities can learn, contribute and grow.
About The Station Learning Farm
The Station Learning Farm was created to build more opportunities for people to learn, participate and feel connected through food and agriculture.
Located at The Station Food Hub in Newport Station, Nova Scotia, the Learning Farm gives participants the chance to learn in a real working environment. Programs are designed around hands-on experience - growing food, preparing meals, developing workplace skills, learning about food systems and contributing to projects that have a meaningful role in the community.
By bringing together education, employment readiness, food security and community partnerships, we are creating practical pathways for people who may not always have access to traditional learning or employment opportunities.
Our goal is simple: to create a place where people can develop skills, discover what they are capable of and be part of something meaningful.
Discover Our Impact
Our impact is about more than growing food. It is about creating opportunities for people to learn, contribute and feel connected to their community.
Skills & Employment
Hands-on training and work experiences help participants build practical skills, confidence and pathways toward future employment.
Food & Food Security
Through food-based programs and partner initiatives like Meals to Heal, we use local food to support healthier, more connected communities.
Learning by Doing
Participants learn in real environments—growing, preparing and working with food while developing skills they can carry into everyday life and the workplace.
Community Connection
We bring together participants, local organizations, businesses, educators and community members to create opportunities that are stronger because they are built together.
